DEMYC is led by a bureau that consists of the Chairman, six Vice-Chairmen and the Secretary General. The Bureau together with the Financial Auditors are elected by the congress of DEMYC, which meets every two years. Once elected the Chairman and the Secretary General cease to be representatives of their national organisations. The Congress adopts various policy and sets priorities for the work of the Chairmen's Conference is the major political event between two congresses.
All policy issues related to internal developments, political resolutions, future activities are discussed and decided by the Executive Committee, which meets several times every year. The Executive Committee is assisted in the preparation of policy statements by working commissions, which are set up on an ad hoc basis.
DEMYC organises several four-day seminars every year, together with a major week-long course at the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg or Budapest in co-operation with the Council of Europe. This year’s event took place the last week of March and dealt with the new technologies and their influence on politics. Each DEMYC meeting has a chosen political topic to be debated according to the priorities set by the Congress, the interests of the hosting country or current political developments.
Summer school, organised every year, gathers a number of grass root members to discuss at length one major political issue. In addition DEMYC undertakes study visits, which allow for a more thorough picture of the organisation and the country visited.
Daily administration and the preparation of activities is carried out by the DEMYC Head office. DEMYC publishes the “European Democrat”, subsequently various policy statements and resolutions are issued as well as posters and other campaign material.
