Conference of the PNTCD Youth

On Sunday 8 June 2003 took place the National Conference of the PNTCD Youth. 264 delegates took part from 41 departmental organisations of youth and students. Among them, 211 were delegates with voting rights.

The delegates had the opportunity to meet the following foreign visitors: Meinhard Friedl, president of DEMYC, Mr. Jacob Lund Nielsen, president of EDS, Petr Sokol, vice-president of EDS and president of the Young Czech Conservatives, Iulian Condur, vice-president of PPCD Noua Generatie (Republic of Moldova) and Octavian Mahu, president of PPCD Noua Generatie Bucharest branch, who gave their messages to the Conference.

Mr. Meinhard Friedl spoke about the two-way relationship which should exist and exists between our two organisations, DEMYC and PNTCD Youth. Mr. Jacob Lund Nielsen has stressed the need for continuing the co-operation between EDS and PNTCD Youth, and for a re-infoced Christian Democracy in Romania in order to help the country integrate the European Union. Mr. Petr Sokol spoke on behalf of both EDS and Czech Young Conservatives about the need for bi- and multilateral co-operation between member organisations of EDS, in order to share the common issues of democratisation in Central Europe.

The National Conference of the PNTCD Youth had the following aims: 1. Electing the leading team of the PNTCD Youth. 2. Adopting the Internal Rules of Regulation of the PNTCD Youth. One motion directed by Cosmin Galu has been presented to the Conference. The vote of the delegates was the following: 187 for, 15 against, 9 abstentions. The National Bureau of the PNTCD Youth is made up of 15 members, while the Permanent Delegation (a kind of Council) has 22 members. Mr. Andrei Rautu, vice-president, is responsible for foreign relations of PNTCD Youth. Mr. Victor Ionescu is secretary general.

The new team is determined to help the mother party entrench so as to become once again a political force in Romania's society.
