'The status and roles of small countries in the European Union'

The participants are visiting the beautiful parliament " Althingi " of Iceland. After a sightseeing in the parliament, participants was getting a short briefing about the political situation in Iceland. Member of the conservative party told about her work in the parliament, and the daily life.

 

One of the most exiting visits was at DeCode Genetics. The company has managed to date all the Icelandic's genes back to around year 1000. They are running 50 health rescues at the moment. The visit raised a good debate about gene manipulation and the futures possibilities.

 

The seminar had 6 lectures about the status of small countries in the EU. Martin Eyjolfsson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lisa Kierans, Political Officer, US-Embassy, Sigridur Anna Bordardottir, MP, where just a few of the speakers giving their view on the topic.


 







All participants enjoyed the swimming in the Blue Lagoon. It was raining and the air was only around 8 degrease. The water was just around 25-35. The amazing experience and the relaxed smile on everyone's faces talked for it self. After the swim participants got the opportunity to taste Icelandic trout and lam.



The landscape is fantastic, her you see from the left. Mikkel, Diogo, Natasa and Martin. The country is placed with one half on the American continent and the other half on the European. The underground activity has formed the Ireland through the century.

 

The last day before departure. Deputy chairman Semmi invited all participants home in his private house for a great reception. All participant agreed that the seminar was a big success, and thanked the organizers.
