August 2010 - August 2011, Year of Youth

demyc-youthday-poster

Demyc would like to address today a special word for all young people in the five continents.

Today, it is not only the "International Youth Day" promoted by the UN but also the beggining of the "International Youth Year" under the theme "Dialogue and Mutual Understanding". In December 2009, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming the Year commencing on this International Youth Day (12 August 2010) as the International Year of Youth. As the slogan suggests, the value of dialogue of different cultures and generations is the reason behind the choice of theme this year. Under the logo "Our year, our voice" the youth worldwide will have the perfect chance to promote ideas and to intercommunicate.

This day is an opportunity for governments and authorities to draw attention to the youth issues. For this reason we invite all of you to join us celebrating and showing how aware our generation is of our rights, obligations, and equaly importantly, of our responsability as citizens today and tomorrow.

A great youth year to all.

New Campaign to be launched in Armenia

Where is the New World?

"Where is the New World?". This is the question that inspired the new DEMYC Campaign.

With the changes in economies, societies, and cultures, consequence of the existent global network of communication, transportation, trade, foreign direct investment, capital flows, migration, ideas, languages, culture and the spread of technology, it seems that the current way most governments see the world is old-fashioned.  During Columbus time the territorial discoveries changed the world. Now it’s time to reshape the world and find its next superpower.

The first step of the Campaign will be "European Neughborhood Policy" as a subtopic to the general question. A launching presentation and a debate will take place in September, during the Summer School in Armenia and a preview article will be released on the August Newsletter.
